County Clerk Position - OPEN FOR FILING

RE: COUNTY CLERK POSITION Term: 4 -Years OR Constitution Art VI, 6

Morrow County Citizens, 

I have vacated my position as the Morrow County Clerk; I have been appointed to continue as Clerk, I will conduct the November General Election, until the newly elected Clerk takes their oath on January 4, 2027.

Now that I’ve vacated my position, the Office of the Morrow County Clerk will appear on November 3, 2026, ballot.  Anyone that is qualified to run may file a SEL 101 with the County Clerk, beginning on August 20, 2026, through 5pm  August 25, 2026. The last day to withdraw is August 28, 2026.  The fee to file for the Clerk’s Position is $50.00 cash or check at the time of filing.

The last day to file for the State Voters’ Pamphlet is also on August 25, 2026.

The County Clerk is a Nonpartisan Offices A nonpartisan office is an office for which a candidate does not run under the name of any political party. 

Qualifications to be County Clerk:
You must be a U.S. Citizen, at least 18 years old, registered to vote, local county resident at least one year prior to election: ORS 204.016

 

All candidates for nonpartisan office must run in the primary election. Nonpartisan offices include: County Commissioner (unless county home rule charter or ordinance specifies otherwise), County Clerk, Sheriff, County Assessor, County Auditor, County Treasurer, County Tax Collector, County Surveyor, Justice of the Peace, County Judge who exercises judicial functions, Mayor, City Councilor, Municipal Judge, Board Member, Director of a District, all Special District offices, any elected office of a metropolitan service district under ORS chapter 268, and any office designated nonpartisan by a home rule charter or ordinance.
